Mid-Missouri has always been home for me. I grew up in Harrisburg and attended the University of Missouri, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in biology and minored in animal science with an equine emphasis.
I fell in love with family medicine during my third year of medical school. I enjoyed being able to care for people of all ages and help them through every stage of life. There’s such a wide variety in family medicine, but what I value most is the opportunity to form relationships with patients and continue caring for them over time. I attended the Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine before returning to Mid-Missouri to complete my residency at the University of Missouri Capital Region.
One of the things I enjoy most about family medicine is preventive care. I want to help patients stay healthy and identify potential concerns early rather than only treating illness after it develops. Routine screenings, understanding individual risk factors and making healthy lifestyle choices can all have an important impact on long-term health.
I also recognize that what works for one person may not work for another. I want to listen to my patients, understand their goals and work together to find solutions that make sense for their lives. Whether we’re focusing on prevention or managing a chronic condition, I try to create practical, sustainable plans that patients can realistically maintain.
Education is an important part of that partnership. I want patients to understand their health, why I’m recommending something and what they can do to improve their quality of life. My goal is to give people the knowledge and tools they need to make informed decisions and feel like active participants in their care.
What makes family medicine especially rewarding is getting to do all of that while building relationships that can last for years. I can see someone for an annual wellness visit, help them through an unexpected health concern, and continue working with them as their needs change over time.
I want my patients to know that I care about them and want the best for them. I hope they feel comfortable coming to me with a concern, asking questions, and working together to find the best path forward. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to provide that care right here in Jefferson City.
