More than a decade ago, I joined JCMG because of its people. Today, I still believe that’s what makes this organization special. Whether it’s the physicians, nurses, and staff I work alongside or the patients who trust me with their care, I’ve found a community that supports one another.
After earning my medical degree from the University of Jordan, I completed my residency and fellowship at the University of Missouri before joining JCMG.
Cancer care is about much more than treating a diagnosis. Every patient has a different story, goals, and needs, which is why I believe every treatment plan should be individualized. One of the most rewarding parts of oncology is walking alongside patients and their families, celebrating victories, overcoming challenges, and reminding them they are never facing cancer alone.
I’ve always believed my patients should have an opendoor policy with me. Questions don’t always arise during an appointment, and a cancer diagnosis doesn’t stop weighing on someone’s mind after they leave. My goal is for every patient to know they have someone in their corner from diagnosis through survivorship.
One of the greatest strengths of JCMG Cancer Care is our collaborative approach. We work with specialists across multiple disciplines to provide comprehensive cancer care close to home, allowing patients to spend less time traveling and more time with the people who matter most. There’s something about our culture where, if you need help, you’ll find help. With so many specialties under one roof, our patients rarely have to leave the community to receive exceptional care.
Outside the clinic, giving back to Jefferson City is important to me. I’ve been honored to chair the Mid-Missouri Heart Ball and support the YMCA’s Livestrong 5K because I believe healthy communities are built through service. When I’m away from work, I enjoy traveling and making memories with my two children, Sophia and John.
If I could leave readers with one thought, it would be this: don’t underestimate the importance of preventive care and recommended cancer screenings. Early detection remains one of the most powerful tools we have. Above all, I want to thank every patient who has placed their trust in me. It is a privilege I never take for granted.
